John M. Dohner receives many referrals from peers and past clients familiar with his ability to handle the tough cases. Practicing in Ohio since 1986, he has focused exclusively on divorce and family law for over 25 years.

Attorney Dohner earned his law degree from the University of Akron. With a legal career distinguished by knowledge and experience, he obtained certification from the Ohio State Bar Association as a Family Relations Specialist — only select lawyers earn this designation based on experience, trial advocacy, legal knowledge, and professional integrity. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, among fewer than 50 attorneys admitted from Ohio. In addition, he is a certified Family Law Arbitrator and makes full and effective use of mediation, arbitration, and collaborative law methods to resolve disputes outside of court.

Dohner represents clients in the Akron area, Summit County, Portage County, Stark County, Medina County, Wayne County, and other counties in Northeastern Ohio. For special matters, he has appeared in Geauga, Cuyahoga, Washington, Trumbull, and Tuscarawas Counties. He has been qualified as an expert on antenuptial agreements and has testified at trial on that subject. He is known for his strong advocacy and problem-solving skills in complex asset division and other difficult legal matters. In a boutique law practice, Mr. Dohner is able to give every client the full and personal attention each individual case requires. He is an accomplished trial lawyer in contested proceedings who will advance your interests without dragging out an expensive process.
